Mañana empieza el mundial...

Friday August 5 2011
The St. Francis Yacht Club kicks off the Laser Masters Worlds today, the third and last of a series of Laser Events hosted at the club over a three week period. The Masters fleets, divided by age, are comprised of seasoned Laser sailors from 35 to over 70 years old, who according to the Laser Class page, want competitive fleet racing but “recognizes that while your mind is still young, your body might not still be there anymore with the twenty-somethings.” At the Worlds level the top competitors may beg to differ. They stay in tip top shape in order to control and maneuver their light boats up and down the breezy course in each very intense 60 minute races.
This particular event, which hosts 240 sailors from 25 countries in seven classes on two side by side race courses, requires an extensive amount of coordination among the 246 volunteers for shoreside registration, launching, race management, and safety. Registration began today and continues through tomorrow . The first race will be at 1100 Sunday August 7th, and the racing will through Saturday August 13th, with a lay day on August 10th.
